I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend as much as I did. Both events—Slow Food Nation and
Sonoma County Wine Country Weekend—were blasts, as was the post-event dinner at The Eloquent One’s. And Pat came with more pancetta, which was a total bonus.
Speaking of bonus, Mansi from Fun and Food Cafe gets big bonus kudos for sending in her post on wine serving basics for Wine & Words Wednesdays. Her point about how the shape of a glass affects a wine hit a note for me; just this weekend we tasted the same wine in different glasses and I was flabbergasted by how different the aromas came across in each. Hmmm . . . I’ll have to dig deeper into that phenomenon.
In the meantime, you might also enjoy these posts on serving and storing wine:

- Wine Cellars on a Shoestring — cellaring options for the rest of us
- Chilled Reds, Warm Whites — what temp are we supposed to serve wine at anyway?

One other nugget to pass on. We’re extending the WomenHeart fundraiser through to the 15th. So get the word out, and by all means contribute a buck or two (or ten, or twenty) if you’re so inclined. Clos du Bois will match whatever we’re able to raise—up to $10,000–which means we have the opportunity to raise $20,000 for a fantastic cause in memory of a wonderful woman.

Hey Lia - glad your weekend was so enjoyable. I liked the posts on serving and storing wine . . . . I ruined a bottle of zin Mr. Eloquent recommended by putting it in the fridge after enjoying a glass . . but I think I already told that story. My weekend was lovely and busy and frustrating . . . (weather and fair = lovely. Hospice = busy. Computer virus and crash = frustrating). steph
Steph . . . So sorry to hear about your computer! You’re not the first person I’ve heard had computer issues over the weekend. Argh. I’d recommend opening a bottle of wine to soothe your nerves ;-).
