I’ve been tagged twice as of late, and I have to admit, I’m flattered. Once by Mo at Paws and Pours and once by Bren at FlanBoyant Eats.
———————————————————————————————————
Here’s Bren’s tag . . . to bare seven random truths about myself and then tag seven more of my fellow bloggers (. . . I’m coming for you!). Here goes:
1) I was a professional guitarist and singer/songwriter earlier in life
2) I was a competitive horseback rider earlier in life
3) I don’t like being sticky, which is a challenge with a toddler (although I do love my daughter, no matter how sticky she gets)
4) My husband and I packed up everything we owned in 2000 and took seven months to drive to Costa Rica and back
5) I’ve eaten grasshoppers
6) I put ketchup on my taco salads (big confession)
7) I’m going to be on TV in two weeks for the first time (well “first time” is not entirely true . . . I was on Bozo’s Circus twice as a child ;-))
OK, now for the next seven:
* Paula from Mango and Lime
* Charise from More Bread and Cheese Please
* Jenn from Chocolate Shavings
* Robin from Around the Island
* Izzy’s Mama from Izzy Eats
* Elisabeth from Cooking in Cathedral Hill
* Erika from Tummy Treasure
Tag . . . you’re it!

Here is the other tag by Mo, again about random facts although this time not so self-guided:
What were you doing 10 years ago?
Pretty much the same thing I’m doing now—writing, making up recipes, having a ball with my husband and our friends, cooking up a storm—only I a) was in San Francisco, b) had no Noe or Talisker (our Rhodesian Ridgeback) yet and c) was just beginning to learn about wine.

Five bad habits
1) Going to bed too late

My husband saw this open on my laptop, took one look at “stays up too late” and “reads too much” and thought that I’d been the one answering.
I’ve always wished that I could sing and play guitar well (those will be my number 1 and 2 wishes if that genie ever comes out of the bottle, I will save #3 for world peace though). What type of music did you play?
I have no clear idea what “tag” means.
I too would love to play guitar - my grandma tried to teach me in junior high (no discipline) and then I got a guitar 10 years ago (also no discipline). I love to sing.
I’m thinking of a “Things That Frustrate Me” list because my 18 year old daughter came home from work (she is a waitress at a local hotel) upset with being treated rudely by a woman who berated her for the lamb stew not being “stew”. On and on she went, while my daughter politely stood there and took it. SO, I’d like to write a column about rudeness in restaurants. And not tipping. I waitressed in high school and college and I’m a big tipper. And I’d never blame a waitress for a meal I didn’t like. Or make a fool of myself in public complaining.
phew . . . gotta go walk this off.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
a guitarist and singer/songwriter!? How cool! I’m a singer/songwriter, still and just waiting for that BIG break–no an easy life!
Hablas Espanol?
Thanks for stopping by, too!
oh and u should try the bacalao!
Oh yes grasshoppers…been there done that. I think I’m over grasshoppers!
Robin . . . That cracks me up. Glad to hear I’m not alone in my insomnia!
Steph . . . You go girl!
Nicole . . . Happy Valentine’s Day to you too!
Bren . . . I’ll be rooting for your big break! Hablo un poquito espanol . . . and trying to learn more! Count me in for the bacalao–salt cod is one of my favorite foods.
Cathy . . . Were you in Southern Mexico when you ate them or somewhere else? I’m curious . . . and I didn’t like them much either ;-).
Well, I’m very impressed that I know you well enough to have already known one of your “random truths”…I knew you put ketchup on your taco salads!
Thanks for tagging me - it was fun to read all your facts…what are you going to be on TV for? Tell, tell!
I have to say that this is one of the most fun blogs I have seen! I will have to try the ketchup on Taco Salad-better than some salsas out there! But the unitard comment was the best-it had me laughing out loud!
Ohhh, bacalao- is there anyplace that you can recommend to get this?
The Mustang Winemaker
Really peanuts? You love peanuts so much that they are in 3 of your top 5 snacks.
And Dan Fogelberg? Seriously? (not that I can talk on musical tastes)
Steve . . . I know all the lyrics to “Same Old Lang Syne” by Dan Fogelberg and it still makes me tear up.
Also, “Bye Bye Miss American Pie” by Don Mclean; “Spirit In The Sky” by Norman Greenbaum; “Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbison; “At Seventeen” by Janis Ian . . .. is that 5 songs?
steph
Elisabeth . . . That cracks me up! As for the TV part . . . it’s for Cooking Light. I’ll be doing a segment on a regional FOX station in early March and then various stuff on the West Coast. So stay tuned, literally!
Penelope . . . Why thank you! As for the bacalao, I’ll have to look into that. Right now I get it at a local Italian shop that will have it in stock every once in a while.
Steve . . . Isn’t that funny, I didn’t really think of myself as such a nut, uh, nut until you pointed that out. Maybe I was just craving them when I wrote this post ;-). As for Dan Fogelberg . . . I have this strange condition where I can remember lyrics that I learned when I was a kid, but for the life of me I can’t even UNDERSTAND the lyrics of songs I came to love as an adult (I thought Stevie Ray Vaughn was singing “In Mexico Shopping” instead of “That’s a Cold Shot Babe” for years). Go figure.
Steph . . . Wow, American Pie? That’s impressive.
