I couldn't agree more with your story comment. There's a great book called "A Story is a Promise" that I've found really helpful in writing my novel. I'm glad you put curiousity first, because if a writer doesn't convey curiosity in their work, it's nearly impossible for the reader to remain interested in the story being told (which is one of the things I would add -- good writing, no matter the genre, should tell a story).
